Develop the inner faith without which creative freedom cannot become stable.
This immersive two-day masterclass is dedicated to the Culture of Faith in Yourself in the Demidov School. Demidov’s “faith” is not confidence, bravado, wishful thinking, or motivational speaking. It is a force—already an action, already a manifestation. It is the actor’s cultivated ability to trust the living process as it unfolds, especially when it is subtle, unfamiliar, imperfect, or not yet “shaped” into something presentable. Without this faith, the actor begins to interfere: to correct, improve, censor, anticipate, and control. And creativity collapses into effort.
The Demidov School treats faith as a tangible, trainable skill. As fantastical as it may sound, Demidov developed practical means to grow and strengthen an actor’s faith in the artist within. One of his best-known pathways is the Demidovian “Lump of Faith” work: the ability to find and hold a concrete inner sensation of certainty—“I want and I can”—and to act from it without vagueness or hesitation. This culture is closely connected with other Demidovian keys, including admitting: the inner “yes” that allows truthful impulse, sensation, and half-conscious movement to live and develop rather than be edited out.
Rather than striving to “get it right,” participants will practice releasing self-monitoring and the fear of error, learning to stay with what is emerging and allow it to grow. Instead of forcing performance, actors will train the inner permission that makes creative individuality possible—so that character arises as a living event no one else could replicate.

Highlights of the Masterclass:

Develop the perceptual culture without which intuition cannot become reliable.
This immersive two-day masterclass is dedicated to the Culture of Attunement in the Demidov School. Attunement is not “trying to listen,” not concentration, and not heightened effort. It is the
actor’s capacity to remain porous, perceptive, and inwardly quiet—so that circumstance, partner, text, and inner life can truly act upon the actor.
Without attunement, the actor is forced to “invent” reactions, lean on stereotypes, or issue internal commands (“do,” “show,” “try”). With attunement, the actor begins to discern what is real: the first subtle impulse, the authentic shift of sensation, the truthful direction of a role’s emerging life. Attunement becomes the ground of intuition, and intuition becomes practical.
Rather than striving for results, participants will learn to remove interference and restore correct directionality: not “aiming attention,” but allowing facts and partners to claim it. The result is a more truthful, more responsive, more involuntary actor’s process—on stage and on camera.
Price: $300
Highlights of the Masterclass:
- The Culture of Attunement: Understanding attunement as perceptual freedom, not effortful “listening.”
- Correct Directionality of Attention: Allowing circumstance and partner to act upon you.
- Discernment of the First Impulse: Distinguishing genuine impulse from nervousness, urgency, or “active-school” habits.
- Interrupting Inner Commands: Releasing the inner “do/show/try” that blocks organic life.
- Partnered Perception: Deepening contact so reaction arises on its own.
- From Attunement to Intuition: How perceptual clarity becomes intuitive clarity.
- Organic Psycho-Technique in Practice: Demidov etudes with given texts, focusing on attunement, non-interference, and involuntary responsiveness.

The Culture of Admitting in Practice
WITH ANDREI MALAEV-BABEL
2- DAY WEEKEND CLASS (SAT/SUN)
TBD | 🌐 Online via Zoom
Class Times:

Train the decisive inner “yes” that opens the gate to living response.
This immersive two-day masterclass is dedicated to the Demidovian culture of Admitting—the actor’s ability to admit (or not admit) what arises in the environment, in the organism, and in imagination. Very often the actor perceives something real, but does not admit it: a sensation, an
impression from the partner, an impulse, a startling thought, a genuine shift of feeling. The protective mechanism intervenes—quietly but relentlessly—and the actor continues to perform out of a lukewarm, truthlike periphery, rather than from the depth of inner passion.
Demidov treats “admitting” as one of the most important keys to creative life. Admitting is not sentimental emotionality, but rather permeability and the ability to resonate with circumstances from the very depths of the human psyche. It is the courageous inner consent that allows truth to
live, expand, and heighten.
Participants will practice recognizing the moment when a living impulse appears and the inner brakes move in. The work trains a new habit: to admit—at depth—what is true and let it unfold, rather than process it through the head and, therefore, replace it with something “banal,” “safe,”
or more conventional. When admitting becomes stable, freedom, involuntariness, and affectivity cease to be occasional miracles—they become reproducible conditions.
Demidov also offers concrete means for cultivating this culture through practice. In this masterclass, participants will explore simple, precise exercises that develop the experience of “admitting”: entering deep calm, finding the state of “I am,” letting sound or a chosen object reach you, and then extending this same quality of admitting into contact with a partner—perceiving, approaching, and sustaining a truthful sensory connection (including focused work with the partner’s eyes) without “zooming in,” forcing, or initiating performance.
Price: $300
Highlights of the Masterclass:
- Admitting / Not Admitting: Releasing the inner gatekeeper of creative life.
- Recognizing the Brake: Detecting the subtle brakes that shut the trapdoor of creative perception.
- Admitting the Uncensored Truth: Allowing what arises inside before the intellect tries to process it.
- From Permission to Development: How admitted impression grows into character and behavior.
- Releasing Inner Censorship: Undoing the need to justify, refine, or control the experience.
- Partner and Circumstance as Catalysts: Letting external facts awaken inner life—and admitting it.
- Admitting in Practice: From deep calm and “I am,” to letting objects/partners reach you—without interference.
- Conditions for Admitting: Profound inner calm, transparency of the gaze, deep release (the great sleep of the body), and permeability.
- Organic Psycho-Technique in Practice: Demidov etudes with given texts,
